So I have been gathering I Spy fabric for some time now. (and the hunt continues) to make a quilt that can be both fun to play with and warm to sleep under. I have contemplated a number of different designs but in the end have settled on a variety of different sizes and put together totally randomly. Here is a sneak peek of where things are currently at…
So I haven’t been on in a while but thought I would jump in and add some of the things I have been up to lately.
About 7 years ago i picked up a set of wooden chairs from an op-shop, there were not very comfortable but they did do the job. It was only ever intended that they would be a short term solution. However 7 years later we were still using them as our main dining chairs.
SO i decided that it was time to look at changing them for some more comfy ones… so off i went to investigate MORE op-shops. I found 6 chairs. Four of one style and two of another… the wood, for the most part, was in good condition … but the fabric was pretty dated and not really my style. So I spent a bit of time… added some glue.. applied a few clamps… and shazammed with some fabric… and here is what I ended up with.
So I have been playing with the idea of a quilt as you go quilt inspired by Quokka Quilts blog http://quokkaquilts.blogspot.com.au/p/fmqaygqalfmqml.html … I love the creations on the blog but as yet I am not that impressed with my own…
I have broken out the Bernina which does seem to make the quilting side of things easier… Anyway some pic below.
This is the latest one …
Hmm not the same as playing with Ellie’s long arm.. back to work.. there must be beauty for my FMQ somewhere!
So after an initial challenge this morning… where my Janome has had a wobbly… I have moved onto my Bernina and have managed to produce a number of stars… I add them here… maybe tomorrow I will get them finished and sweet talk Miss Ellie-Mae into letting me use her long arm on the weekend to do quilting magic!!
Anyway.. here are some more stars for you..
So today I am running out the door but wanted to update where this yummy quilt is at. Last night I went to play sewing with some friends and made the dark green block.
And this morning I put them all out on the bed to see what they looked like together and this is what I have so far.
The other things I made last night was a super cool coat for my friends Pug, Thomas Applby but I didn’t get a picture. He is coming to stay tomorrow so I will make a blog just for him and all things doggy there.
